Weather

Strong to moderate westerly winds decreased while I was in the field. Broken to obscured skies and temperatures a few degrees below freezing.

Snowpack

I didn't dig more than a meter down. The crust under the most recent snow was about 15cm thick where I dug and knife-hard. The slab below this layer was dry, with rounded grains that were one-finger to pencil hard. While I did notice a softer layer under this slab while I was probing for a place to dig, between the thick crust nera the surface and the dense slab below it, I doubt a person could trigger a deeper slide today.
