Weather

Weather: Cloud cover with brief periods of slight sunshine. Winds minimal even on ridges. Temperature was 21F at 8AM and rose into the high 20’s by around noon.

Snowpack

Snowpack: Breakable crust on almost all aspects at lower elevation, and S/E/W aspects at around 11,000ft. N aspects at ridge top had 2-3 ft dry snow. Some wind effect on N/NE facing ridge with shallow wind slabs. Skied N/NE facing slope off the top of Snodgrass down to Gothic road. Skied slopes up to 40 degrees with no signs of instability besides mild sluffing. ??

Avalanche

Avalanche: Observed what appeared to be a skier triggered avalanche on a steep open NE face of Snodgrass around 11,000 ft. Seemed to be triggered right below the ridge and crown was approx. 1-3ft. Slide ran around 100ft.
