Weather
Light snow with intermittent gusty winds and mostly cloudy skies, slightly below freezing when we arrived at 8 AM at Herman Gulch trailhead, and slightly above freezing when we left at noon.
Snowpack
1-2 inches of relatively wet powder snow on a melt freeze crust, very stable snow pack with no evidence of recent wet avalanche activity, much more stable than 1 week prior trip in same location, at which time there was significant cracking and "whumpf"ing, did not dig pit as our tour was all on low angled slopes near the bottom of the gulch. Minimal snow on the ground at the trailhead,our high point was about 11,600 feet. Some wind loading and drifting above treeline.
