Cathedral area

Skied Cathedral peak today. Wanted to link with a north facing ski run. When we got up to the ski run, while assessing, a cornice failure happened, triggering a 40cm slab in the run. Size 3 The cornice failure created a Crater (see pictures) just below our skin tracks. Lucky enough, it happened before we took any decision on breaking the cornice to ski the run. A good reminder that temperature is warming up and these cornices will surely be affected and are a big hazard right now.
