Went up to the lower slopes of Grand daddy to poke around and dig some pits. Thinking we would get a handle on the snowpack in the area and see how we felt. Surprised to see multiple groups heading into Grand daddy as we broke out of the trees. We saw 13 people at one point all heading up or in the line. Any hopes we had of skiing the line evaporated and we just dug some pits and watched things unfold.
