We headed to South bowl for some storm skiing today. 40cm of storm snow seems to be bonding well to the previous snow surface in areas that we travelled, up to 2200m. Moderate southerly winds continued to transport snow over the day. No cracking was observed on touring or skiing. We stayed in the trees to avoid exposure to wind and slabs in wind loaded features and found amazing skiing. Lots of loose dry sluffing in steeper features, but no more than you'd expect during a storm.
Snowpack
We dug a test pit at 2200m on a South facing slope. Found easy compression test results (resistant planar) within the storm snow. The December 1st crust/facet layer was down 75cm here (a windward, very thin spot), and was breaking down. A hard break result on our compression test wasn't repeated.
