It was really cold but thankfully not much wind.
Snowpack
New snow heights varied from 10cm to 20cm on more northerly slopes. The new snow had already slabbed up and was cracking around skis. On northeast and east facing slopes there was a weak layer about 20cm down that was propagating in Extended Column Tests. Below that was a second weak layer with dust on top and below that about 120cm of Pencil hard snow. In this location it would be very hard to impact the basal layers. Southfacing slopes had a supportive suncrust under the new snow.
