Weather

Weird weather day. Periodic sun would break through dark overcast skies . Distinct bottom end to the cloud ceiling with good visibility below around 10,000 ft. Winds were strong from the south to southwest, and lots of blowing snow. It seemed like it want to snow most of the morning, but didn't really get going in earnest until around 10:30-11AM. Then is was mostly graupel. Graupel was pooling deep in some areas as it got blown around and rolled into depressions.

Snowpack

Around 3 to 6 inches of mostly graupel fell during the day. Lots of blowing snow made it hard to measure depth of new snow. The graupel "pooled" as deep as 8 to 12 inches where it was blown/rolled in. Similiar observaston reported from Marble/Mt Justice. Exposed slopes has wind-drifted slabs forming almost before our eyes. Suspect some Wind Slabs avalanches to be on the radar overnight and into tomorrow.
