Snowpack
Snowpit - 80cm total, @45cm was the problem layer of faceted crystals sitting beneath a knife thick 5 cm crust that held the slab of new snow from the past week or two (35cm) on top of it. Was surprised to make it 20 taps with no fracture during extended column test however on the first hard tap from the shoulder the entire layer of facets collapsed. Was dug at only a 10 degree slope.
