Riding Quality
Terrible
Snow Conditions
crusty, hard, windAffected, powder

Snow quality at and below treeline exceptional, but once you venture to treeline it becomes a different story: wind has redistributed snow into roads and creeks, giving depths in places of 60cm+, but scouring much of the alpine to ground. Treacherous alpine travel.

Weather

Light snow at time of observations. Temperatures ranged from -3 (alpine during the morning) to -.5 (valley at 13:00).

Snowpack

Loose, unconsolidated snow below treeline, with depths from 30-50cm. Above treeline a very supportive crust (zero sled penetration in many places) overlies loose, faceted snow. Expect a rapid change from bulletproof crust to loose snow on the same aspects. In many areas there is no snowpack.
