Cloudy skies, strong winds, and periods of heavy snow. 5.5" of new snow with 0.6" of water content measured this morning. Temperatures cooled from 30F to 24F during the day at Pass level. Wind gusts of 40-50 mph with maximum gusts over 60 mph. By 3 PM, an additional 3.5" of high density snow had accumulated.
Snowpack
Signs of instability were confined to shooting cracks on windloaded northeast aspects at treeline. No avalanches were released during testing. No signs of instability found below treeline. Windward slopes near treeline (S-SW-W) were mostly scoured by the strong winds.
Avalanche
No fresh avalanche activity was observed. Visibility was poor.
