Kootenay Pass

We found a 225 cm deep snow pack on Ripple Ridge. Light graupel falling at 1200 PST. Overcast skies with wind from the south. Moderate wind at 2050 m. Air temp -6.6 C. Our pit was on a 33-degree incline. 55-deg NE aspect. Results: CTM11 down 30 cm on Surface Hoar, Sudden Planar (photo) CTM20 down 100 on rounds, Sudden Planar - this was also a transition from 1 Finger to Pencil Hard Snow. Raincrust was down 140 cm. The storm snow hadn't become cohesive yet.
