Lots of shooting cracks and whumpfs while tromping through the world's tightest trees today. Appx. 20c. somewhat consolidated storm snow overlying 60+ cm of facets and depth hoar at the bottom (5mm, the best example I've seen) making for a thigh deep wade through willow and facets, causing shooting cracks and whumpfs abound. Failures on small micro features. Not enough snow to ski anything in the alpine, wind hammered on every aspect. If you like fun, do not go here.
