Snowpack
On a southeast aspect Below TreeLine the snow depth was 61cm. Overnight cold temperatures created large surface hoar(SH) in the drainage bottoms +5mm. Below the SH a 1cm melt-freeze crust( MFcr) was of 4F+ hardness & had small near surface facets just underneath. This sunny aspect has a mix of Melt Freeze crust & facetted layers in succession to the ground. On a north aspect Near TreeLine at 11,700' the snow depth was 87cm. Around 30cm of the most recent snowfall had accumulated on this lee slope. This snowpack has very little change in hardness throughout. The slightly denser new snow sits over advanced facets from prior in the season. This minor slab is still showing the ability to propagate fractures in long column stability tests.
