Fantastic day skiing both the north and south chutes at Churchill. Saw the remnants of what looked to be a recent size 2 avalanche and runout above the south chute, probably let go within the past two days. Snow pit showed a sudden planar break around 40cm down after 5 elbow hits. Overall great powder and good weather.

Snowpack

We dug a single pit on the NE aspect of a ~25-degree angled face around 12 p.m. Weather conditions were sunny/mildly overcast, maybe -5C with the occasional wind gust. CTE15 sudden planar release (with 5 elbow hits) about 40cm down at what appeared to be December's facet layer. Everything below seemed solid.
