Weather
Sunny with a few clouds, changing to overcast by around mid afternoon. Temperatures were in the mid 20's with light winds out of the southwest.
Snowpack
Variable. We found 35cm of hardslab on 15cm of facets on northwest aspect at 12,000ft. Some areas on north are completely faceted out. Even where we skied pockets of unsupported hardslab it didn't slide. West near treeline had a supportable crust in open terrain and about 50cm of 4F snow over the facets in shaded areas, which we avoided. On a north facing slope near treeline we found a thin wind skin and 85cm of snow on the Jan 19 layer and 130 on the December 11. We got a ECTX and a PST(end)25/130 down 130 on the Dec 11 facet layer.
Avalanche
Lots of wet activity out of the west facing steeps below treeline.
