Windy start to the day. Warm and sunny to finish.
Snowpack
A local avalanche professional from the Telluride area put it best earlier this week saying "It has been several years at least since we've observed this widespread of a natural cycle. In 2018-19 the slides were historic in size, but not as widespread." The recent avalanche activity is bullseye information regarding the weakness of the snowpack. Crowns can be observed on all aspects at upper elevations. All size 2 and above. Today, strong winds continued moving snow in the alpine in the morning hours but died off during the day. Sun and warm temperatures warmed the snow surface on sunny slopes and at lower elevations in the afternoon.
Avalanche
Northwest wind triggered a large avalanche today near Dallas Peak. Sun and warm temperatures triggered small avalanches on southerly and westerly slopes in the afternoon.
