Weather
The day began clear with building clouds through the day. Temps remained cool in the alpine, but rose above freezing at pass level. Overcast by 3 pm with Storm 4 moving in.
Snowpack
Almost all of the highway paths are dry or mostly dry at this time. The only paths that hold significant snow cover are East Riverside, Slippery Jim, W. Guadalupe the Battleship and Ophir Pass slide. These are all big paths and need LOTS more volume to reach the highway. Patchy snow that lingers in a few other paths is not contiguous enough to create a significant problematic weak layer for incoming snowfall. New snow will mostly be falling on bare ground (again, with exception to the aforementioned alpine paths).
