Snowpack
Skins glopped as a cycled from dry to wet snow surfaces repeatedly. Steep southerly slopes had drained water to the ground and started to develop neve penetente, or deep chicken-head surfaces. The melt-freeze crusts on steep southwest-facing slopes wetted, and were draining into the facets below.
Westerly-facing slopes and most low-angled terrain remained dry and faceted. A couple of inches of recent snow rests on top of very weak facets.
These dry, very weak and faceted surfaces on westerly-facing slopes will not support much load as new slabs build on top of them in the coming week.
