Weather

about 23 degrees, light snow, full clouds, slightly windy near treeline.

Snowpack

about 8" of new light snow on a hard consolidated spring snow pack. Skinned just below the ditch road on the north facing aspect. Made three had shear tests in very shady treed area facing directly north. Out a scale of hard, medium to easy all three test I was able to push about a 30 cm slab that broke as a resistant planar on sun crust layer at a medium push, Under that sun crust layer was cold wintery snow. I moved into a more exposed north facing aspect a little higher and repeated the tests to find a fully consolidated layer which was very hard to move and well bonded. Which jives with way the skiing felt. 8" on a hard layer.
