Snowpack

7-9" storm snow at the Anthracites that settled quickly on sun-exposed slopes and on all aspects as temperatures reached above freezing below treeline. Old snow surface became wet below the new snow, making for a quick ramp up in wet avalanche problems by late morning through the afternoon.

Avalanche

By mid day it became easy to push wet avalanches down to the old snow surface. Saw a large skier triggered avalanche on the Pencil Handrail on Axtell, and a large natural on the south side of the Anthracites (avalanche coded in observation from reporting party).
