Snowpack
Travelled mostly on North and East aspects near and above treeline. On North facing terrain above treeline snow depths ranged from 20-100cm. 30cm of new snow above treeline, 30-45cm of new snow below treeline
Avalanche
On our last descent out of US basin we remotely triggered 5 separate D1 pockets, these pockets were on different terrain features and in places were separated by very shallow ridges and or exposed willows. Skied NW from 12,400' on low angle terrain as a group, stopped at 12,200' and turned N. Rider 1 stopped, skier 2 continued down. Skier 2 stopped above the last bench at 12,000' when he noticed snow moving on their right as well as fresh debris below the bench. Both skiers regrouped on the bench and rider 1 skied the last 200' to the basin. As rider 1 left skier 2 felt a collapse and observed some cracking, but no additional avalanche activity. We assume they all went at the same time, although we couldn't see 2 of them until we were at the bottom of the basin. Moderate cracking and collapsing observed earlier in the day.
