This was loose snow slough we intentionally triggered with a ski cut. Though this bowl feature is mainly North and Northwest facing, there is a small and narrow piece of terrain near the top that faces more Northeast. We ski cut this terrain suspecting more wind-loading than the other aspects, and a slough about 3-5 inches deep released. It entrained most of the storm snow in the chute below and this snow ran through the top half of the bowl feature. This was storm snow running on the prior dusty-crusty surface, and did not propagate or otherwise trigger anything else. However, it was still enough loose snow to knock someone off their feet in tight terrain. R1-D1 in our opinion, but feel free to adjust that judgment as you see fit.
