Weather

Snowing, cold (~6*F) and windy. Wind from the WNW, 5-15mph, gusts. Elevation 10,100', WNW aspect.

Snowpack

Variable- open areas facing WNW mostly above 10,000' were wind affected with sastrugi. Sheltered areas (east facing trees) had up to 36" soft snow with facets near the ground. At one point on the descent I plunged through to the ground (36") on my snowboard and had to dig out, so the snow is slightly 'upside down'.

Avalanche

Observed remains of a small soft slab avy on the road cut on the south edge of Buddy's Run. WNW aspect, 10,100'. Approx 2' crown, ran to ground. 25' wide, ran about 10' downhill.
