Snowpack

The snow-pack is about 139 cm deep with a decent variety. Surface hoar was witnessed that likely formed today, near surface faceting was also witnessed. A few hard slabs existed further down (at depths at of 97 cm and 81 cm). These layers sit underneath decaying precipitation particles from recent storms and faceting was witnessed above and below the 81 cm mark. With a decent amount of new snow above this layer the facets were beginning to round, however these layers are still resting on facets and depth hoar. At a depth of 36 cm we witnessed dept hoar chains and fairly well developed (1.5-2mm) depth hoar crystals. These crystals are resting on 28 cm of well developed hollow prisms and striated cups (3-4 mm in size). Overall the snowpack in the area is relatively weak.
