Snowpack

One quick pit:10,200ft, NE aspect, HS 160cm, SH 10cm from the surface sandwiched between two pencil hard wind slabs in the upper 25 cm of the pack. 1 easy & 1 moderate TT results, Q1 shears, reacting both above and below the SH layer. Explosives affected these upper layers only, and ski cuts had no results. The crowns of the 'winter solstice' storm were still visible on all N - E aspects and have filled in with 70 - 120 cm of snow. There is a crust about 20 cm from the ground that this 'newer' snow is sitting on. Stability and skiing were both good, where the wind had not affected the surface.
