Weather

Sunny on all aspects of Deer Creek. Skied North aspect and approached from south aspect.

Snowpack

2-4 feet of fresh snow above sugary facets varying in depth. South aspects was fresh snow on top of rocks and grass and north aspects were fresh snow above 16" of sugary facets. All below treeline.

Avalanche

Below treeline slide near bottom of drainage into Deer Creek. North Aspect in heavy trees. One skier entered a small clearing and snow broke away below and above. Carried skier 100 feet down before skier self-arrested on trees. Storm Snow broke free from facet layer.
