Snowpack

Ventured into the alpine to summit Bow Peak via SW face. No pit, but I was pole-probing and digging back every few meters. Highly variable snowpack to say the least. Some spots had soft fragments/facets for the entire depth of 60-80cm. Good riding to be had. Other areas were: - 10 cm of soft surface snow - 20 cm of P-hard slab. My guess is buried wind slabs. No whumpfing. - 10 cm of DF snow. More cohesive than facets (i.e. not sugary) - 15 cm P-hard slab, same character as above - 30+ cm of facets Was curious about the SH problem posted by Mat, so I repeatedly jumped on a steep but supported, NE aspect micro-feature at 2300m. Didn't get a reaction.
