Ghost trees

Bijoux riding area in the Pine Pass still has a layer down around 40cm that is releasing and propagating in snowpack tests. To help us stay vigilant when dealing with “low probability, high consequence” problems hiding in the snowpack we discuss our “mindset” and riding expectations before heading out. We carry these with us throughout the day to help combat bias and guard ourselves against the temptation to expose ourselves to bigger terrain when it looks and feels good. Today our mindset included discussion about the persistent slab, and we set our expectations to riding meadows and small terrain features.
