Weather
Cold in the morning, 8 degrees. Warmed up once the sun rose, clear skies.
Snowpack
East facing slopes were reminiscent of spring days with corny snow. Deep drifts in north east areas from wind loading. Approximately 3600 meters elevation. Snow pit revealed 2-6 inches of soft snow resting on feet of solid icy snowpack.
Avalanche
No signs of any, nor any signs of new snow, cracking or collapsing snowpack, rapid rise in temperature. However, evidence of strong winds, blowing, and drifting were found in NE exposure. Also, on the way down, in treed areas, collapsing snowpack could be heard on east facing exposures.
