SNOWPACK DISCUSSION (instabilities, layers, HST/HN/HS, surface conditions): HS 52cm, 21cm depth hoar, HN 24cm, storm snow 4F- in sheltered terrain. Widespread instability observed, cracks propagating upwards of 40ft, evidence of natural cracking also observed. Natural avalanches observed on E-SE aspects on Baldy near ridgetops on wind affected terrain. Also heard report of natural avalanche on Coneys R3-D2. Crust observed deep on southern aspects, and not present on NE-N aspects. TERRAIN NOTES (where skied; snow conditions; instabilities found): Skied E facing terrain <30º, surface snow was sluggish, with contact of terrain below, watch out for deadfall and rocky terrain.
