Firm under surface with approx 18" of still not fully consolidated storm snow on top.
We ascended the couloir early in still unconsolidated storm snow. As temperatures warmed we decided to stop half way and simply descend. Once we had all safely exited the couloir, a freind traversed skiers right on the apron below the couloir on a low angle slope and triggered a small storm snow Avalanche that took him over the rocks below. He was not buried or injured.
