Summitt Creek Glacier

Good skiing on summit creek glacier between 1500m and 1700m. Several whumpfing and settling sounds were observed near treeline close to the summit creek parking lot on our approach to the glacier. Snow depth on the glacier varied from 90cm at the toe of the glacier to 250cm at 1700m. snowpit on SW aspect at 1650m: CT14 sudden collapse at 30cm. 5 to 10cm of soft snow overlies a 20cm soft wind slab that sits atop the fracture line which was in a thick hollow facet layer that appeared to be sitting on the very hard ice layer from mid January. We chose to stick to low angle terrain.
