3" new, up to 12-18" windblown and slab in east bowl on old bed layer.
Avalanche
We triggered a storm slab that was 12-18" deep, about 100' wide , ran 200-300'. Elevation about 12000', east aspect, above treeline, below ridge line. An obvious wind loaded feature between two bowls cracked loose as we stomped on it. We expected it would crack off, but were surprised at the speed and distance it ran. The old bed layer is so slick from previous warm weather and wind, that this will probably create some real problems with a future larger storm.
