Snowpack

[HS 125 cm] With new snow in the forecast and strong winds, focus has now shifted to persistent grains in the upper-snowpack. 01/05/15 rain crust @ 86 cm is still clearly present, though not continuous and rather brittle. I've observed NSF developing above and below this crust for the past few weeks. Faceted grains above the crust have changed the most dramatically, and are now down to fist hardness. CTM and ECTN's on this interface. Buried surface hoar @ 117cm is not well-preserved, but was somewhat reactive on CTE and ECTN blocks. Structure --> poor (5/5 lemons) Strength --> fair (CT/ECT medium) Friction --> high (RP, PC) Propagation Propensity --> low (ECTN x 2)
