Tree line and above: wind slabby. Tree line and below: wind effected powder/powder. Cracking and settling at tree line and above. Triggered avalanche on s-sw slope from 40' above. No visible cracking. Heard snow collapse. Wind deposited snow ran(~300')...Visible from Forest Service kiosk on Vail Pass. Also kicked off large piece of cornice-se slope. Created a bit of a mess. Avalanche appeared to run to the bottom of slope(~300').
