Weather
Obscured skies all day. Snow averaged S1 with periods of S2. Strong SW winds upon arrival at trailhead. Winds decreased to light from the SW by the time we got to the summit.
Snowpack
HS in this area averaged 1.8-2 meters below treeline. At treeline, HS near 2.5 meters. Weak layers of surface facets and surface hoar present in the upper snowpack on all northerly aspects today. Depth varied from 10-40 cm below the snow surface depending on elevation. These weak layers will be a concern for natural and triggered slides for the next few days with the incoming storm. Strong mid pack of rounded grains from last week's storm. With some probing to the ground could still feel a weaker layer of facets on bottom of the snowpack.
