Snowpack

We have a pretty typical early season snowpack for the San Juan- thin and weak. Snow depth is generally 10"-20", with up to 3' in the deepest deposition zones above treeline. The past week of high pressure significantly changed things. Sunnier slopes have lost much of their snow cover. Many south and some easterly slopes are completely bare, even well above treeline. Warm temps have left lots of melt freeze crusts of varying thickness. Shady slopes below treeline consist of mostly faceted snow.
