Its all relative

We were pleasantly surprised today to find soft snow north of Sparwood in a sheltered area protected from winds. There was 5cm of new snow over 15cm of soft snow from the last storm. With no change in the avalanche conditions, we played around on some of the lower slopes where the snow was less wind affected. We investigated if there was any surface hoar now buried by the new 5cm of snow and could not find anything significant and may be mixed in with the new stellar snowflakes accumulated from the last few days.
