Today we were in the Telkwa range near Houston BC. Yesterday’s warm inversion has settled the surface snow making for easy travel. We had a good look around and found a few older wind slab avalanches and one fresh wind slab that has stepped down to the Dec facets. The debris was hard and heavy. This layer is easiest to trigger in shallow locations but could propagate out into deeper snowpack areas with high consequence. Best to avoid slopes with exposed rocks or steep roll-overs where the snowpack might be shallow.
