Winter is back at Hilda

Out for an early week tour on Hilda Ridge. We were the only party on Hilda, but a group of ~10 could be seen on the neighboring Parkers Ridge, Conditions were stormy over the day, with short periods of very low visibility heavy snowfall. Temperature hovered just below 0 over the day. In general there was about 20-40cm of powder on top of a very supportive 10cm ice crust from the previous warming that was present on all aspects. I was only able to penetrate the crust with my shovel. Ridge top was wind effected and down to rock at places. We observed sluffing on the surrounding ridges throughout the day during sunny periods. The snow conditions made for a fun day on untracked powder! Take advantage before it warms up again.
