Haines summit did not suck.

With the weather coming in calm and clear, we decided to put some miles on the sleds and see as much terrain as possible today. We cover over 100km of high alpine terrain and observed the following. Very few new, or old for that matter, avalanches were observed. We did note two size 2 wind slab avalanches out of fairly extreme terrain. We also noted one large chunk of cornice that had fallen recently. Riding was incredible almost everywhere we went but particularly good on sheltered glaciers. Probing on glaciers revealed 300-400cm+ of snow. We dug a test profile to 150cm on a glacier at 2200m and found an interface down 45cm that gave moderate, sudden planar results in compression tests but did not propagate in ECTs. The interface was preserved stellar crystals under the most recent storm snow. The one thing we did avoid today was overhead exposure to large, south facing slopes. By early afternoon, small wet loose avalanches were observed out of steep, rocky terrain and south facing surface snow was moist.
