Black Prince

Varying conditions due to significant temperature inversion, -17C in valley and near 0C in the sun at treeline. Ride quality was OK in areas, terrible in others. Fresh track in top ~15 cm of powder still possible, but weak faceted snow was unsupportive in areas, making turns somewhat unpredictable... needed to keep your speed up. Tracks on the way up were mostly good once into the glades and out of the dense trees. We evaluated the snow conditions off the ridge, the risk was too high to venture away from the glades, although others were skiing the open avalanche run out to our skiers right (which about 3 weeks earlier had a small avalanche higher above in the alpine bowl).
