Day out at Ashman. Conservative decision making proved to be the right call with a large whumph in low angle terrain which remotely triggered an avalanche 80m away on a steep south facing slope. Investigated and found 50cm thick slab sitting on a hard crust with a thin layer of facets on top. Decided to just go for a ridge walk up toward Bruno peak and proceeded to remotely trigger 4 more avalanches up to size 2 just by walking along the flats. Even well below treeline on the ski out we found signs of instability in meadows with whumphing and shooting cracks on small convex slopes.
