Snowpack

I dug on a southeast-facing slope and found a relatively deep snowpack (170cm). The slabs were very hard (pencil to pencil +) with a distinct crust/facet layer below the most recent slab about a foot down. It failed in an ECT with blows from the shoulder, but did not propagate across the column. The facets in the lower half of the snowpack are also gaining strength and were 1-finger hard. This is similar to what we've seen in areas with a snowpack 170cm+ deep.
