Snowpack

Sunny and low elevation slopes are warming and melting under the strong sun and warm temperatures. In the morning a crust was observed on many slopes that likely developed yesterday. In the afternoon the crust was soft as temperatures increased and the sun made its way across the sky. On a North facing pit at 11,400' or ntl. The mid-pack is showing some strength, but still produced propagating results on extended column test. The block failed at the ground on basal facets and depth hoar. Low probability high consequence. No cracking or collapsing observed.
