Avalanche

A Grand County SAR team member observed this avalanche yesterday. "The slide is about 100' wide, 3-400 feet long. The slab ran to ground 2 feet deep. (from observing tracks) Snowmobile was buried to the right of the tree in the runout zone. You can see fractures in the snow that did not slide. Believe the deposit zone to be 3' deep." Apparently, the snow machiner was descending the slope from the old railroad grade just east of the trestle. This would of occurred at least one day previous to observation.
