A few high clouds around. Temperatures were above freezing while I was in the field with gusty northwest winds. No wind transport was oberved due to lack of available snow for transport.
Snowpack
Below treeline the average Hs was 50cm and there was little evidence of any slab developement. Near and above treeline Hs varied from bare ground to over a meter. I dug near treeline on a wind loaded feature and found a few pencil to 1F hard layers overlaying a layer of faceted grains at the ground. ECTN results in the upper snowpack. Above treeline, north aspects are stripped of snow except for wind loaded gully features. Quick observations in a couple of these gullies revealed a similar snowpack structure to what I observed in my pit. The snow surface was becoming moist at lower elevations on my way back to the trailhead.
