Snowpack

The snowpack is still quite thin. Throughout the entire BTL tour, there was only 2-15" of mostly faceted snow in non-loaded spots. Closer to the ridge, there were several areas with thin wind skins, but the only substantial slabs were right below ridges on the lee side. It was in one of these areas that I dug the pit below. It's worth noting that the thickness of the slab varied quite quickly - I dug in the middle of the slope, but up the hill 20' away the slab was over 2' thick. NTL/ATL are very thin except where slopes have been loaded, namely in NW-E-SE gulleys.
