Snowpack

Whumphing on north and south facing slopes near and above treeline. Thick layer of basal facets with strong 1F to pencil hard slabs on top.

Avalanche

R2 D2 avalanche remotely triggered on a lee facing roll (NE) at treeline at 11500’. Propagated much further than expected. Likely slid on basal facets as the bare ground is visible in places. Crown height around 2 to 4 feet high. Debris pile crossed normal skin track for the area.GPS coordinates: 39.70061, -105.89349
